peplum top that makes me feel just a bit closer to the decade (the thick polyester blend fabric certainly helps). Oddly enough, it has turned out to be a very versatile piece in my wardrobe. I’ve worn it with boyfriend jeans and pointy flats, in Vegas with my Margiela for H&M crystal fringe collar and candy clutch, and on several dinners out – both dressy and casual. Versatile or not, any piece of clothing that mentally transports me to a place and time that inspires me is a must have in my book.
Sometimes all I want is to live in the 70’s so I can wear glittery jumpsuits, go roller skating on the reg, and spend my nights at the disco. Lucky for me there’s something about this galaxy print

What a week! Coming off of a fantastic birthday (many thanks to you for your lovely birthday wishes!), I feel like the luckiest girl around and thought it would be fun to share a sprinkling of moments from the past few days. Needless to say it’s hard to jump back into the routine after a whirlwind of delicious treats, endless bubbly, sequins for days, the girliest of chatter, and of course – prezzies. Included in the the mash-up are: classic afternoon tea by my wonderful mom, glittery birthday nail art by my dear girl Jaimi, the most glorious birthday gift ever – an Alexander Wang Rocco bag, a fun futuristic peplum number from Asos, an amazing wall o’ horns at STK, my new favorite colored jeans (which I raved about here), Sex and the City penny slots (hello!), and the chandelier that swallowed a whole bar at the Cosmopolitan. I’ll have twinkling lights in my eyes for the rest of the month and I love it.

The cat’s out of the bag. If you’ve seen any of my recent posts (take this or this por ejemplo), it’s clear that I have a thing for animal likeness fashion. Whether it’s a ram horn, a python print, or a stegosaurus spike, I love to add little animal aspect to my outfit whenever possible. Leopard print is an absolutely crucial staple in my wardrobe, almost as if it’s a solid neutral, so isn’t it a gas to push it a step further into full-on animal costumery? These pieces are a fun touch of sass and kitsch without teetering into childish. Perfect for a weekend of unadulterated mischief. See you next week!

Is it just me or does this year already have a new kind of energy? There’s a certain fire in the air – a feeling of anticipation for big things to happen. 2012 is the year of the dragon and boy am I liking it already. The dragon is the only animal in Chinese zodiac years that is not a real species – something that can inspire us to think beyond our basic reality. What better than a fierce fire breathing reptile to give us power and passion to conquer the impossible this year?
